Squid Fishing in Phu Quoc

I was born and grew up in France but was brought up in a family deeply rooted in its Chinese South-East Asian culture. My taste in food is thus predictable, with a preference for Asian food and French-style desserts, but also fairly diverse, with a soft spot for Southern fried chicken and garlicky hummus. My favorite food of all times is noodle soup, of any kind, pho, ramen, soba, udon, hu tieu, wonton mi, I love them all. I have been living in the U.S. on and off since 2001, and to this day I still believe that my mom is the greatest cook in the world.

I started this blog because I wanted to join Tuesdays with Dorie (see my first post) but hope to share more than baking experiences. What I love most about cooking and food (as cliche as it may sound) is the ability they have to bring people together and to evoke memories. Hopefully this blog can help me achieve a bit of that too.

The header is a picture of a prawn from a traditional Cambodian sour soup. The picture on this page was taken in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, after I caught a big squid (squid fishing is fun!).

  1. I’m glad you explained what the header picture is. my brain wanted to interpret it as a baked good, and that wasn’t working!

Would love some feedback!
